Ways to Remember
Personalizing the funeral
“Helping you celebrate a life lived”
No two lives are exactly the same, and no two funeral services should be either.
A funeral service that’s both meaningful and memorable should be as unique as the individual being celebrated. It should be a ceremony, reflecting personal values, interests and experiences-all the things that form the rich tapestry of a life worth celebrating.
Ways to honor your loved one’s memory
Involve Family & Friends.
While you might feel somewhat reluctant to ask, family and friends may feel honored to get involved in your loved one’s funeral
Display personal belongings.
Even the simplest mementos such as a coin collection, an apron or a set of monogrammed cuff links provide remembrance and comfort during the service. Artwork, awards, an apron, an old baseball cap and other personal items help people understand that the person who died enjoyed many interests.
Play Special Music.
Music can be a powerful way to remember your loved one. Today, many services feature a mix of religious and secular music played from a CD or even a live musician.
Show a Tribute Video.
Gather precious photos and ask the Neilan Funeral Home to assist you in creating a video presentation with musical accompaniment to show during the service.
Speakers.
Think about asking key individuals to contribute a eulogy, remembrance, reading, poem or favorite story. Many times, such contributions can go a long way towards
Create a Photo Collage
The Photo Collage Board allows families to display photographs, awards and other personal items of the deceased for friends and family to view. As a courtesy to those we serve, we will provide you with the boards and the easels to display.
Place cherished items in the casket.
Items like pictures of the grandchildren and other family members, a photo of the family pet, a favorite golf club, a well baseball cap, an apron or a religious item. We welcome all of them as your way of saying good bye.
Mementos or remembrances.
Hand out a small keepsake as friends and family leave the funeral, something that will later bring your loved to mind.
Dedicate Memorials.
Planting a tree, or making a contribution to a relevant charity can create a lasting memory that will also benefit others
