Bridgeport- Joseph B. Valentini, 41 passed away Friday, July 7,2017 at his residence. Joseph was born April 30,1976 in New London. He is the son of Joseph F. and Agnes C. Valentini. Joe leaves behind a sister Teri (Valentini) Williams and her husband Eric Williams, Great-Aunt's Genevieve Salvio and Carmella Hudson and families. Raymond Valentini (Uncle) wife Helena, cousins Bryon Thompson wife Kim, children Jack and Luke, Laurie and Joe McGuiness, Chelsie Bonneau, Justin and Christina Valentini and Brianna Valentini. Aunts and Uncles Delores and Gerald Boucher, Nancy White, Elizabeth Miller, Marie and Bruce Larsen, Alan and Pat Czajkowski and many cousins.
Joe attended Salem School grades K-8 and East Lyme High School. He played baseball, basketball, golf and rowed fall crew. He also played ice hockey on the pond with friends in Salem. He belonged to the Key Club and Leo Club in high school. Joe received the Nick Woviotis scholarship award for his four years of college which shows distinguishing himself both academically and athletically. Joe graduated from Merrimack College where he received a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. During college, he went to the Dominican Republic with his civil engineering department and helped develop a water system. He also did volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity. After graduation, he worked for Modern Continental where he worked on the "Big Dig" in Boston. Joe worked for Luke's Engineering firm in Glastonbury associated with Aquarian Water. Joe then became an account manager for Ferguson Waterworks and then HD Supply. He was also a member of the Italian Dramatic Club in New London.
Joe loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to Yankee, Capital, and Patriots games. Joe always had a knack of making friends. When Joe entered a room he would just light it up. And he would have these great one liners; always making you smile. Joe's beautiful smile will be forever missed.

Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in New London, with interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
