Matthew Manavas, 22, an intelligent and charismatic young man, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2017. Matthew is survived by his parents Christopher and Kimberly, his sister Alexandria, brother Nicholas, and sister-in-law Julia Manavas of Oakdale.
Matthew was recently engaged to his high school sweetheart, Stacey Bowen. They formed a bond that was inseparable. Their recent engagement party was a testament to their love and everlasting relationship.
Matthew, a lifelong Montville resident, graduated from Norwich Technical High School in 2013. He was a member of the football team and participated in multiple sports. He went on to become a draftsman at Electric Boat. Matthew was a diehard Giants and Red Sox fan.
Matthew had a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms, a personality that promoted friendship and family. He was adored by all whom came in contact with him. Matthew's loved ones describe him as the glue of the group. This group of young adults was inseparable; they played and grew up together and formed relationships rarely seen. Megan Foster and Casey Susi, Kyle Willoughby and Ashley Nowak, Jake Basilica and Alexandria Manavas, along with Stacey and himself formed a sort of dream team of friendship and loyalty. Matt served as the catalyst for all activities for this special group.
Matthew is also survived by his Paternal Grandparents, John and Margaret Manavas of New London; his Maternal Grandmother Marilyn Keefe of Waterford, and is predeceased by his Maternal Grandfather Richard Keefe.
Matthew was a central part of a large and extended family. He is survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. His entire extended family will forever cherish the memories they have of Matt and will continue to honor his life going forward. His light and guidance will forever be present and will never be forgotten. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
