William Douglas Glenn, Sr., 77 of New London died peacefully on April 28, 2008 of Lung Cancer. He was born on September 28, 1930 in Thomasville, NC to the late Eula Mae Craddock Glenn and Alvin Woodard (biological father) and Clarence Glenn (stepfather).
William, joined the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1949 and retired in 1978 after 28 years of service, as a 1st Class Petty Officer. He also worked at General Dynamics in the Preheat Department for a total of 18 years.
William's passion was his family. He was an awesome father who bent over backwards for his family. He was a compassionate man, always lending a helping hand to all who needed it. His past time was buying lottery tickets from the 7-Eleven, trying to hit that Big Number!
He leaves behind 5 beloved daughters, Sheryl Glenn Duzant, Aroura Brown, Donna Glenn and Iris Glenn all of New London and Angela Foxworth of Columbus, Ga. He also leaves behind 3 beloved sons, Donald Glenn of Norwich, William Glenn and Jerry Glenn of New London, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be sadly missed.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 PM with a service at 8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London. A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday 10 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Broad Street, New London.
