Waterford- Vivian Autencio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2017. She was born on November 12, 1921 in New London, CT to Wilfred J. and Isabelle Enos Martin. She was one of eighteen children and attended New London schools. In her late teens, she worked as a childcare provider prior to her marriage to the love of her life, Federico R. Autencio. They were happily married from July 12, 1941 until his passing on March 21, 2002.

They were blessed with ten children: daughter Elizabeth and husband, Claudio Gonzales of Fairfield, CA. Daughter Suzana and husband, Robert Doyle of Groton, a son, Gary Autencio and wife, Gail of Oakdale, daughter Doreen and husband Gary Jacobson of Apple Valley, MN, daughter Carol and husband Tom Goins, of Richlands, NC, daughter Debra and husband Mark Duhaime of Norwich, son Gregory Autencio and wife Kim of Gales Ferry. She was predeceased by sons Federico Autencio of Oakdale, who is survived by his wife Patricia; Robert Autencio of Waterford, and a daughter, Penny Lynn Autencio.

In addition, they were blessed with 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her brother Wayne Martin of New London, CT and her sister Sandra Boyle of Bremerton, WA survive her.

Vivian was a lifelong member of the Holy Ghost Society of New London. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Fairfield, CA where she was a member of the Holy Spirit Church and a member of Disciples of Jesus prayer group for several years. She returned to Connecticut to be closer to her other children and attended Sacred Heart Church in Groton. She was a devoted and generous mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. All would be welcome at her table for her Sunday and holiday dinners.
She will be remembered for her love of reading, arts and crafts, crocheting, and cooking for her family.

A Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 15, 2017 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church 56 Sacred Heart Drive Groton. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday September 14, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home 12 Ocean Avenue New London
