Resided in Niantic, Connecticut

Vincent T. Martin, the husband of Katherine R. Martin of Niantic, CT died peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021.

Vince was born on December 21, 1936 to Joseph P. Martin and Mary (Corris) Martin in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1954 and graduated from Fairfield University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.

After graduating, Vince entered the U.S. Army and spent two years with a Military Police Battalion in Frankfurt, Germany. While in Germany, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Finance Corps.

Vince married Katherine Ryan on July 7, 1962 at St. Anthony’s Church in Litchfield, CT. They provided a loving home to raise their family in Fairfield, CT, and later retired to Niantic, CT.

He loved the time spent with his sons, cheering them on at their various sporting activities, encouraging them in their studies and careers and doing so again with the addition of each new grandchild.

Vince began his business career with Pitney Bowes in Stamford as a Financial Analyst and advanced through several management positions to Group Executive with White Consolidated Industries in Cleveland, Ohio, and then became President of the Bullard Company, located in Bridgeport. After his retirement, he held the position of Director of Administration at the American Red Cross Chapter in Bridgeport.

Vince was active in coaching in the Fairfield Junior Pro Basketball Program and in the Fairfield Little League. He spent many happy hours on his various woodworking projects and enjoyed making fudge for family and friends at Christmastime. He was a long time volunteer with Care & Share of East Lyme. He was involved in many community activities and was blessed with many long time friends. He and Kay enjoyed traveling; trips to Ireland, Alaska and the coast of Maine were particular favorites.

In addition to his wife Kay of fifty-nine years, Vince is survived by their children Thomas V. Martin, his wife Christina, and their children Jackson and Samuel; Timothy R. Martin, his wife Sherri, and their children Connor, Ryan, and Delaney; Patrick M. Martin, his wife Jenny, and their children Benjamin and Maxon; Sean M. Martin, his wife Moira, and their children Maeve and Quinn. His sister, Patricia M. Danko and his sister-in-law, Beth Wade, also survive him.

In addition to his parents, his infant son, Vincent T. Martin, Jr., predeceased Vince.
