Obituary

Timothy D. Falvey
Timothy D. Falvey, 80 of Waterford, died peacefully at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital on May 17 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 24, l938 in New London to the late Clarence P. Falvey and Julia (Wonsky) Falvey. He is survived by the love of his life, Alma (Johnson) Falvey, with whom he would have celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary June 27th of this year. Additionally, he is survived by his cherished family: his son Timothy P. Falvey of Plainfield, CT and daughters Loreen Falvey of Waterford and Karen (Falvey) Szabo and son-in-law Andrew Szabo of Tolland, CT.; his grandchildren, Nicole Knight, Timothy Falvey, Jr, Brittany Falvey, Joseph Szabo and Justin Szabo and his great granddaughters Pamelia Falvey, Kaylee Knight, Riley Knight and great grandson, Nathan Milton, all of whom made his life a joy.
Tim graduated from New London High School in 1957. He joined his father in the family business, Falvey Motors, Inc. on Ocean Avenue in New London. After his fathers’ passing over the years he and his two brothers grew the business with locations on Huntington Street in New London and Norwich. As a member of the Air National Guard Tim served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He loved the outdoors and was a member of Snake Meadow Hunting and Fishing Club in Moosup, CT for 48 years where he served as President, Treasurer and on the Board of Directors. One of his greatest pleasures was taking the family there for a picnic. He would get the boats ready, make sure everyone had life preservers on and head out on the lake to catch some trout. He also loved hunting and target shooting there with his family and friends. In the fall Tim, with his son, especially loved Pheasant hunting with their dog. He always looked forward to the yearly family vacation in Rangeley Lakes, Maine where he fished in the lakes and rivers in the area with his children and grandchildren. He and Alma loved spending 4 months in Florida escaping the cold weather.
