Peter Loscoe
Niantic- Peter M. Loscoe, 54, of Niantic, died Friday at the Wm. Backus Hospital in Norwich surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Dr. Phillip G. Loscoe of Richland, Washington and Michelle Bovitz Nielsen of Niantic. He was the loving husband of Lanie Littlefield Loscoe who survives him.
Peter was a graduate of East Lyme High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He was currently employed at Millstone as an Armed Security Guard but worked for many years as a master tech and service manager in the automotive business.
Peter was gifted mechanically and gave generously of his time to family and friends. His interests were many including trips to South Bend to see his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish, going to the range to shoot with his buddies and hanging out in his garage working on the latest project. He enjoyed scuba diving, camping, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, working on race cars, along with numerous other hobbies and activities. Everything he did was done with passion, joy and trademark expertise. He once completely remodeled his own home, again proving himself the master handyman.
Most important to Peter was spending time with his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. In a recent celebration of Lanie and Pete’s life together, the important role those children and grandchildren occupied in their lives was obvious to all those invited.
In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by two daughters, Nicole Smyth and husband Peter of North Andover, MA and their children Jane, Peter and Steven; Jessica Stutzman and husband Paul of West Haven, and their children Claire and Cooper; a brother Phillip Loscoe Jr. and his wife Jackie of Cranston, RI; a sister Amy Baillargeon and husband Ray of Enfield along with numerous nieces and nephews.
