Patricia (Carver) Arsenault

Patricia Arsenault, 83, formerly of Ledyard passed away March 23, 2021. Born in New London on August 23, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Richard and Carolyn (King) Carver. She grew up in Bath, Maine and was a member of the graduating class of 1955 from Morse High School. She married fellow Morse High School graduate her beloved Robert Arsenault for 45 years until his passing in 2002.

Bob and Patty settled initially in Sanford, Maine before eventually relocating to Connecticut. They moved to Ledyard in 1967, where they raised their three sons. Patty spent over thirty years as a teacher’s aide at her beloved Ledyard Center Elementary School. She became a Ledyard fixture through her devotion to and love for the staff and students at Ledyard Center, supporting and cheering-on her husband’s basketball players and cross-country runners at Ledyard High, and as a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes parish. Patty served the parish as a lecturer, Eucharistic minister, Ladies Guild member, co-chair with her husband of the parish festival and as a regular at adoration. She touched countless Ledyard youth in her 50 years as a CCD teacher.

Patty will be deeply missed by her family which includes her sons, Richard Arsenault of Middletown CT, Robert Arsenault (Cynthia) of Westerly RI, and Timothy Arsenault (Katie) of Waterford CT; grandchildren, Amy Bishop, Caitlyn Baker (Joseph), Alexis Arsenault, and Audra Arsenault, one great-grand daughter Quinn Bishop, and a great granddaughter due to arrive in June. She is also survived by her Aunt Mary Lou Johnson, sister Joan Powers, sister-in-law Marilynn St. Onge, and several nieces and nephews. Never having met a stranger she will be missed by so many wonderful friends, especially her lifelong best friend Patricia Skinner and her husband Richard of Brunswick Maine.

Patty’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the heroic staff at Crescent Point Assisted Living in Niantic. Having been diagnosed with dementia six years ago they provided the most wonderful care possible during these difficult years. She loved all of them so very much.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry Wednesday, March 31, at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow. Due to COVID concerns there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bob Arsenault Scholarship Fund at Ledyard High School or the Our Lady of Lourdes Religious Education Program.

The Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London is assisting the family with the arrangements.
