New London - Miner Mary Benitez Quinn, 63, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of New London, and most recently living in Wiesbaden, Germany, peacefully passed away on Feb. 3, 2018, at Beechwood Rehabilitation and Care Center. She is a 1974 graduate of New London High School and formerly worked at the New London Recreation Department.

Born on Feb, 5, 1954, in Añasco, Puerto Rico, to Minerva Ruiz Soto and the late Rodulfo Mojica Benitez, she married Mike Quinn of Connecticut. Miner lived, worked and travelled around the world with her husband.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved son, Marcel Duzant of Waterford, his wife Beth Duzant, and her lovable grandchildren, Justin, Gianna, Greydan and Isabella.

She also leaves behind her sisters, Grissel Benitez-Hodge and husband Vincent Hodge, former longtime residents of New London, Aida Bruno of Queens, N.Y., Pilar Fajayan of New London, Carmin Benitez and husband Victor Ramirez of Añasco, Puerto Rico, and Emigdia Benitez of New London, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Rudy "Junior" Benitez of Montville.

Miner loved dearly her Quinn family, parents-in-law Dick and Jane Quinn of Florida. and sisters-in-law and their families. She was especially close to her son's mother-in- law, Debbie St. Denis of Waterford.

Miner loved living her life helping others understand the importance of "healthy living." She loved to cook and treat her family and friends to 'farm to table' dishes in her home. She enjoyed practicing alternative medicine methods and was a licensed Reiki master.

The family is grateful for the many family members and friends and staff who made a difference during this time.

A Celebration of Miner's Life will be private. The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to either the Church of Christ, c/o 12 Ocean Ave., New London; or to the Oasis Church, 35 Redden Ave., New London, CT 06320.
