Obituary

Maureen Frances Wiedermann, 79, of Niantic, died Wednesday March 21, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 17, 1933, in New Rochelle New York, she was the daughter of George David Farley and Margaret (Burke) Farley.
She married the love of life, Hans Eberhart Wiedermann on October 10, 1959, in New Rochelle, New York.
Mrs. Wiedermann graduated from Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School in 1951, attended NYU and graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1954.
Maureen began her career as a RN nurse at New Rochelle Hospital, and continued her career at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, in New London, CT as an exceptional Emergency Room Nurse, retiring following 30 years of dedicated service in 1996.
Mrs. Wiedermann was an active member of the East Lyme Junior Women's Club, Visiting Nurses Association, and the Niantic Bay Yacht Club. She also volunteered at the Niantic Center School PTA, and as a religious education teacher for St. Agnes Church.
Maureen dedicated her life to helping others. She spent her life on the water and instilled this love to her family and friends. Maureen loved to travel, especially to Italy, Florida and where ever her families boats and sailing would take her.
Maureen is preceded in death by her husband, Hans Eberhart Wiedermann. She is survived by her son George T. Wiedermann and his wife Sophia, of Old Lyme, her daughter, Maria Moulthrop and her husband Bruce, of Niantic, her grandchildren, John Moulthrop of Boston and Michael Moulthrop of Niantic.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff members of Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and Pendleton Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mystic and Southern CT Visiting Nurses, for the exceptional care provided throughout Maureen's illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday, at St. Agnes Church in Niantic. Burial is private. Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St. Niantic. Memorial donations may be made in care of the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital Development Office.
