Niantic-Madeleine (Martyn) Anglim, 85, of Niantic CT, formerly of Stamford died peacefully May 15, 2017.
She was born September 30, 1931 and the youngest daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Mongan Martyn of The Bronx and County Mayo, Ireland. Madeleine was born and raised in Bronx, NY and was proud to be a 1948 graduate of Academy of Mount St. Ursula where she received the Gold Cross for highest achievement. She was also a 1952 graduate and constant supporter of the College of New Rochelle. In 1955 Madeleine was the first female I.G.E. employee to earn a certificate from the Sales Analysis Institute.
Family and faith were precious in Madeleine's life. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas D. Anglim, both former, devote communicants at Holy Spirit and St. Leo's churches in Stamford where she was an active volunteer at Northeast School, Meals on Wheels and the Soup Kitchen. At her death she was a member of St. Agnes Church of Niantic.
Madeleine is survived by her sister Patricia Harrington of West Caldwell NJ and her treasured children Megan Wares (Eben) of West Hartford CT, Mary Elizabeth Groth (Ken) of Old Lyme CT, Anne Anglim (Russell Trasky) of Helena MT, and Patrick Anglim (Jennifer) of Glastonbury CT as well as her grandchildren Kristen Wares (Matthew Gembecki), Courtney Darcy (Ryan), Eben Wares, Sydney Groth, Drew Groth, Thomas Anglim and Jack Anglim who knew her as "Nana". She took pride and joy in her title of "GG" (great grandmother) to Tess and Josie.
Madeleine's loyalty to family, sense of humor and love of debate will be missed greatly by those who loved her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the staff at Essex Meadows Health Center, Beacon Hospice and Metta-Anne at LVCA for the tender, loving and constant care to our mother.
