Waterford- Dorothy M. Ramistella, 100 years old, formerly of 54 Rope Ferry Road and of Douglas Lane in Waterford, CT died April 10, 2017. She was born April 25, 1916 at the Morgan Homestead in Waterford, the daughter of Stanley D. Morgan Sr. and Reba Kenyon Morgan. On Sept 1, 1943 she married John A. Ramistella who predeceased her in June 1983. She was also predeceased by her brother S. Douglas Morgan Jr. and his wife Jane.
In 1933 she graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School, New London. In 1940 she received her B.E. Degree from the Willimantic State Normal School. A dedicated teacher who loved her students, she retired from the Lillie B. Haines School in 1976. She taught for a total of 37 years mostly in East Lyme and Waterford, but also in Montville and New London.
She is survived by one son, John M. Ramistella and his wife Barbara of North Venice, FL, three grandchildren, Kari (Ramistella) and her husband Rob LeFever of New Hope, PA, Timothy Ramistella of Allston, MA and Jessica Ramistella of Concord, NC, two great grandsons, Andrew and Thomas LeFever, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday April 20th at the Neilan Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic, CT. Friday, April 21st at 11:00am, there will be a short ceremony at the funeral home followed by burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
