Niantic- Arthur James Honsa, 65, of King Arthur Drive, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, with Ann, his loving wife of 36 years at his side. Arthur showed great strength and courage in battling his cancer.

Arthur was born March 14, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Arthur James Honsa Sr. and Leona (Davis) Honsa.

For 12 years, he was employed as the work supervisor in the Laundry Department at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. In 2007 he retired from Microtel Inn and Suites after many years in the hotel industry.

A family man all the way, Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Sheperd) Honsa and their children, Donald Dickinson and his wife Emily of New London, Dennis Dickson and his wife Audrey of Brooklyn, CT., Lorie Ann Honsa-Marcavage of Oakdale and Dawn Honsa-LeClaire and her husband Jason of New London. He is also survived by his sister, Amelia Cole of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The pride and joy of Arthur's life were his 10 grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Ryan, Megan, Mason, Madison, Michael, Kaitlyn, Mackenzie and Autumn.

A son, James Michael Honsa predeceased him.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, from 6 to 8 PM at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London.

The funeral will assemble on Friday, 10:15 AM at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 10 Huntington Street, New London for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Avenue, New London.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town Street, Norwich, CT., 06360.
