Niantic CT- Ann S. Walsh, proud mother of her four sons Hans, Tim, Dan, and Adam, beloved husband of the late Judge John F. Walsh, died Tuesday May 29th at her home in Niantic. It was her wish to spend her final days at the family beach house in Niantic overlooking the bay. She died peacefully and with incredible courage and grace surrounded by her four sons. <br><br>She was born on May 22, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of late George E. Shine Esq. and Catherine Weston Shine. She was a long time resident of New Britain before moving to Niantic in 1983. Ann was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph's Academy in West Hartford and The College of the New Rochelle.<br> Ann was first and foremost a teacher, starting her career in Farmington and later teaching in the New Britain and Waterford school systems from which she retired in 1995. Ann was extremely active in her community and with her family. She was the President of the Womenâ€(TM)s Auxiliary of the New Britain Memorial Hospital, (now the Hospital for Special Care) and an officer and member of the Junior League of New Britain. She was a lifetime member of the Republican Party, and was very politically involved both as a candidate and behind the scenes serving in various campaign and full time staff positions. She was a key advisor to her husband Jackâ€(TM)s 1972 U.S. Congressional campaign, an Advance Person for two Gubernatorial candidates and an Aid to Congresswomen Nancy Johnson. <br><br>Ann Walsh was a veracious reader, avid card player, and lover of crossword puzzles. Ann also enjoyed traveling, and visiting her children around the world. She loved watching sports and had enjoyed many outdoor activities be it skiing or being a pilot. Ann also loved to dance with her husband and children. <br><br>She is survived by her four sons, Hans Walsh and his wife Alba, of Camarillo CA, Judge Timothy Walsh and his wife Katherine, of San Diego CA, Daniel Walsh and his wife Alicia, of Niantic and Adam Walsh, Esq. of New York, NY; ten grandchildren, nine young boys: Conor, Jack, Liam, Finn, Cavan, Tynan, Jackie, Riley and Luke, and a little girl, Delaney. She is also survived by her sister-in-lawâ€(TM)s, Virginia Walsh, Rosemary Walsh Martin, both of Palm Shores, Florida, and Jane Walsh Conway of New Britain; her cousin Leo Sullivan of New Britain; over 40 nieces and nephews and many close friends.<br><br>Calling hours will be Thursday May 31st. from 6-8 at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home 48 Grand St Niantic, CT 06357-3238 A mass of the Christian burial will be held on Friday June 1, at 11 am at St. Francis Chapel. Central Ave. Corner of Crescent Ave in Niantic. Burial will be private.
