Obituary

Waterford- On Friday, May 4, 2018, Adam Joseph Stubelick Jr. peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.
Adam was born on August 23, 1922 in New London, CT, the son of the late Adam and Mariana (Poreda) Stubelick. He graduated Chapman Tech High School in 1941 and attended Green Mountain College.

A veteran of the WWII and the Korean War, as a member of the US Navy, he was decorated with the purple heart.
On November 8, 1947, he married the late Margaret Golden of New London at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church and had 2 children, Joyce Vlaun of Waterford, CT and Gary Stubelick of Boston, MA.

Adam had a strong work ethic that was evident throughout his life, working for Helco and Connecticut Light and Power, where he made many lasting friendships he treasured.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Tin Can Sailors and the Northeast Utilities Retirees Club.

Of all of his most cherished roles in life, was that of being Grandpa to his 3 granddaughters and Jadic to his 8 great-grandchildren, making memories that will be forever in their hearts.
Adam is survived by his children Joyce Vlaun and Gary Stubelick; Grandaughters, Holly Bevilaqua, Heather Hunter-Cable and Heidi Pafias; Great grand children Alyssa, Adam, Brandon, Anna, Noah, Andrew, Audrey and Alaina.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Margaret, two brothers William and Ziggy Stubelick and two sisters Helen Kirby and Gladys Sabowski.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the VNA of Southeastern Connecticut and The center of Hospice Care of Southeastern Connecticut for their support and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Adam’s memory can be made to the Carelot PTO Scholarship Fund: 315 Flanders Road, East Lyme, CT 06333.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-7pm on Monday (May 7th) at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. The funeral procession will assemble on Tuesday (May 8th) at 10:15 am from the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary Church, Huntington St., New London for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Ave. New London.
